Accused the US of Systemic “Racial Discrimination” at the UN’s “Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.”

In 2022, Mr. Mina made the following remarks as an official representative of the United States Government to the UN’s Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD).

Troublingly, Peter Mina discussed “racially and ethnically motivated domestic violent extremism,” the Biden Administration’s “successful effort to terminate the Migrant Protection protocols, or Remain in Mexico Program,” and his office’s investigation into the Haitian whipping hoax:

It is an honor to speak to you today about our Department’s work addressing racial discrimination. The Department of Homeland Security has been diligently pursuing the goals of equality and equity.   This is reflected in, among other things:
  • Our efforts to fight racially and ethnically motivated domestic violent extremism, including through our new Center for Prevention, Programs, and Partnerships.
  • Our proud role in the Interagency Task Force on the Reunification of Families, which, as of July 28th, has facilitated the reunification of 400 children and parents who were previously separated at the US-Mexico border through the use of the Zero-Tolerance policy and related initiatives;
  • Our successful effort to terminate the Migrant Protection Protocols, or Remain in Mexico program, which culminated in a U.S. Supreme Court victory in June affirming the Secretary’s authority to terminate the program, and the instruction to cease enrollment in the program earlier this week, after the district court lifted the injunction that had required the Department to reimplement the program.
  • And the work of my office in investigating civil rights and civil     liberties complaints against the Department. For     example, my office has been investigating complaints     against U.S. Customs and Border Protection relating to     the treatment of Haitian migrants in Del Rio, Texas last     year. Customs and Border Protection’s Office of     Professional Responsibility also investigated and     released a report. As a result of this oversight, institutional changes and the appropriate disciplinary process are now underway.
In closing, we are proud to stand with our fellow agencies to help the United States comply with its CERD obligations and are grateful for the opportunity to speak with you today about our Department’s critical role in those efforts.

For Peter Mina to discuss these issues on the world stage is an embarrassment. Mina described the United States as if it was an inherently racist country, and worse, boasted about ending the Remain in Mexico Policy. Simply, Peter Mina would be completely out of step with the immigration policy priorities of a conservative administration.

Has Repeatedly Spoken at ‘Diversity’ Events and on ‘Diversity’ Panels

As discussed above, Mr. Mina’s racial views call into question his willingness to faithfully execute the law and the policy priorities of a conservative administration. Unfortunately, questions about Mr. Mina’s racial views are not limited to a single appearance at a single international conference.

Mr. Mina has spoken on numerous occasions at events related to “diversity” and/or “equity.” There marks below from Mr. Mina’s Keynote address to “DHS Accessibility Day 2022”are a representative sample of his views.

- "On 6/25/21, President Biden issued executive order 14035, diversity, equity, and inclusion and accessibility in the federal workforce, DHS Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer, Talent, Recruitment, Engagement Division, or STRIDE, is leading implementation of the EO." (6:50)
- "The purpose of this EO is to advance DEIA in the federal workforce to deliver equitable outcomes by leveraging employment policy and practices to ensure that public servants at all levels have an equal opportunity to succeed and lead." (7:14)

Additional examples of Mr. Mina’s presence at these sorts of events are available below:

Mr. Mina lists his pronouns on LinkedIn, an out of the mainstream behavior that suggests a deeply entrenched left wing worldview that would be out of place in conservative administration.
